Who We Are
Stratus Data is a boutique data science consulting firm enabling mid–market companies by leveraging data, analytics, and AI. We partner directly with CEOs developing data strategies that align with their business strategy, building data pipelines and visualization tools, and developing machine learning and AI solutions.
We’ve collaborated with research teams at top institutions like Harvard and Stanford, as well as at companies like General Electric and The Walt Disney Company. We are remote–first, with a strong presence in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Who You Are
Stratus Data is looking for an Engagement Manager to join us in driving organizational impact. This person will hold a degree in a STEM subject and at least 7 years’ applied data or analytical consulting experience. They will be responsible for the successful delivery of data projects—on time and on budget, at an extraordinarily high quality—along with the day–to–day of client relationships.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong sense of organization and attention to detail, situational and interpersonal awareness, an understanding of the business context they operate in, a tireless pursuit to grow, and a curiosity for the “why” beyond the “what”. Integrity, fast thinking, and embracing complexity are a must. Most of all: empathy. Our job is to marry organizational challenges to data science solutions.
What You’ll Do
● Ensure successful delivery of projects, on time and within budget.
● Balance client needs with timelines, budget, and quality solutions.
● Develop and execute project plans and timelines.
● Manage Stratus–client communications.
● Oversee sprint planning and team coordination.
● Prioritize features and requirements amongst competing initiatives.
● Maintain a prioritized feature backlog.
● Coordinate complex tasks across teams.
● Step in as a technical contributor when needed.
● Navigate the complexity of project, technical, and political considerations.
What You’ll Bring
Required
● Undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM field
● 7+ years of work equivalent experience
● Leadership: proactive, coaches, comfortable navigating complexity
● Management: create project plans, communicate timelines, manage multiple workstreams, work cross-functionally
● Communication: nuance, articulate, easy manner, active listening, empathy
● Technical: strong familiarity with SQL, Python, Dashboarding, Data Analysis, Data Modeling, Visualization Tools, Database Technologies
Preferred
● Ph.D. in a STEM field
